British Blues

British blues in my opinion dominated the music scene of the late 60′s early 70′s.

The pioneer was Eric Clapton through his work with the Yardbirds, John Mayall and Cream.

Although Eric Clapton was the centre of the British Blues scene other groups also excelled in the genre – notably Free.

Free came to my attention at the start of the 70s through the excellent single ALL RIGHT NOW. My interest in them didn’t stop there though. One of my friends at the time had a copy of FIRE AND WATER and it was this album that got me hooked. From the ashes of FREE came BAD COMPANY. Not a strictly blues band in my opinion but a great band all the same.
